Something My Child Loves That I Do Not

The Blog Dare on Bloggy Moms

The cat.

Unlike everyone else in The Little Pink House, I have a like/dislike relationship with the blasted cat.

When he's calm and curled up on the bed he's cute; however, at 4:30am when he decides it's time for us to wake up and begins yowling loudly.  Not just loudly.  We are talking Pavarotti here.  Cute is thrown out the door...with the cat.

Everyone else gets to love on the cat oblivious to the mess he made earlier by bringing a live Cardinal into my kitchen.

Let's not even talk about trying to wrap presents with the dad-blame thing around.  Oh yeah, it's really sweet on Christmas cards and on TV when a kitty if romping through tissue paper and playing with ribbon, what you don't see in those shots are the owners cursing and trying to shoo him out of there.

We got the cat as a natural rodent deterrent which I love - letting nature take its course; but, I'm the only one who gets to experience the joy of cleaning up after the cat has decided to play whack-a-mole in the yard leaving a trail of carnage on my back porch.  Our Schnauzer loves him.  Probably because they work in tandem - the cat offs a critter and our Schnauzer seems to be the clean up crew if I don't get to it first.  It's unpleasant all the way around.

I guess it's okay that Diva loves the cat as he is.  I will continue to clean his messes and let him in and out of the house as he pleases and listen to his operatic interludes as long as she loves him...and he continues ridding my yard of moles.

  1. My cat is extremely lazy during the day. "Where is the cat?" laying down somewhere is the best guess. NOW at night when you are trying to sleep the darn thing is an acrobat!!!
We just adopted three other kittens (couldn't separate the siblings), so the house is bound to be even more exciting lol.

They are all inside cats, so there are no gifts from the outside thankfully. My mother knows exactly what you are going through, we had a Tom that would bring her different things from the forest behind our house constantly.

    1. Tell me about it, when I want the cat to be calm, he's running around like a lunatic. Wow! Four cats all indoors! You've got your work cut out for you. :) I can do without the tokens of gratitude when the come furry or feathered. :)
