The Old Item of Clothing That I Just Can't Part With

The Blog Dare on Bloggy Moms

Whereas some of these blog posts have made me think long and hard about I was going to say, this one was a no-brainer.

My grey sweatshirt is an old piece of clothing that I cannot and will not part with.  Ever.

Even when it becomes threadbare and stained and ripped and holey, I will turn it into a headband or belt or wall art.  I physically will not be able to bear throwing out that sweatshirt which has seen so much of my history.

The thin shortish grey sweatshirt has been in my life since I was 15 years old.  It came to me by way of my Great Aunt who loved garage sales.

I was not a fan of the garage sale back then yet my Aunt Belle would pick things up for me periodically.  And then the day came when in a garbage bag full of assorted garage sale finds, there was this sweatshirt.

I don't know what drew me to it.  Was it the color somewhere between charcoal and heather or the slightly floppy fit?  The thinness of the material around the collar and cuffs or the lightness of the actual sweatshirt material?  I still don't know but I love that sweatshirt.

There was a time when I was separated from it in college.  I had taken the shirt home to be laundered (yes I was one of those college kids) and my younger brother snatched it before I knew it.  Then for several years he wore my shirt before it was returned to it's rightful owner.

The old grey sweatshirt will be put in the will as part of my favorite child's inheritance.  ;)

This is Day 10 of the Bloggy Moms Blog Dare.

  1. You would think we'd hang on to expensive clothes that we bought all shiny and new. Not for me either though! Mine is an old Blockbuster t-shirt I bought at a thrift store.

    1. Exactly, Ms. Hilary. All the shiny new stuff gets tossed. Maybe since our thrifted stuff never was shiny, we don't notice the wear on it.

  2. I love this! Mine would be a black maternity sweater. It is super large, but it is the comfiest, coziest piece of clothing that I own and I will forever have it!

    1. Don't you just love comfy floppy oversized sweaters. It's like a Snuggie that you can wear in public. :) Thanks for stopping by!
