What's Cooking - Fill the Freezer Before School Starts Edition

I have sprinted toward the finish line in the marathon task of filling the freezer with breakfast foods before Diva went back to school today...as a MIDDLE SCHOOLER!!!  Yikes!

The way breakfast works around here is everyone knows to look at the menu plan on the fridge and/or under the cake dome on the counter.  I make sure at the beginning of each week to write down what is for breakfast and to thaw out something from the freezer and put it under the cake dome.  The only time there is confusion is when there are also brownies under the cake dome and my peeps try to sneak them in for breakfast.  Oh, and Thursday is always oatmeal day.  I don't know why.  It just is.

I managed to get Mrs. Wilma's Oat Muffins made

As well as some Fruit Tea Bread

Amish Friendship Bread in various flavors are not only a favorite breakfast/snack around here but also get used frequently for the Cookie Ministry

I made some Protein Shakes and Protein Bars for Engineer

Breakfast Cookies and Breakfast Cake are often requested breakfasts

Apricot Bars are a new item on the rotation - I hope they like them

Cranberry Pumpkin Bread and Pumpkin Muffins (no chocolate chips) are nestled in the freezer snugly

I had the waffle iron out making cornbread waffles for supper one night and thought I had better make up a batch of blueberry waffles before I put away the machine

At Diva's request, Choco-Cran Muffins were made and I tried the same basic recipe using Almonds & Apricots

Banana Bread is always a staple breakfast food at the Little Pink House.  Smoothies are a new item for breakfast and the freezer so a few of those got made up and put away.  (Anyone else love the Ball freezer jars?  They are wonderful for frozen smoothies and protein shakes.)

A few items weren't for the freezer but had to be made this week like Meringues for a teacher appreciation luncheon, Granola, and Yogurt.

Now that breakfasts are taken care of for awhile, I need to build up the make-ahead-dinner and cookie ministry side of things.  But first, I think I'll put my feet up, have a cup of coffee, and knit for a bit.  :)

  3. Hi Pary,
Girl, you sure know how to get ready for the school year. This is a great idea to stock the freezer with all these wonderful foods, so no one goes out the door without breakfast. Jamie Oliver needs you on his team!
Hope you have a great week end and thanks for sharing with Full Plate Thursday!
    Come back soon,
    Miz Helen
