Menu Plan Week 24


Today is Diva's 12th birthday.

We are not normal.
She is not normal.
We don't do normal birthday parties.

She never knows what the theme of her party will be until the kids get their invitations.

This year kids were invited to participate in a casting call for an innovative new project by Little Pink House Productions called "Five Minute Movies."



Upon arrival, we took head shots of all of the actors and asked them to fill out on application with very cerebral questions like "Why did the chicken cross the road?" and "Knock, knock?"

Next, we had them warm-up with a few theatre games.


The actors then met the producers behind the "Five Minute Movie" project and were split into their casts and asked to go film on location with their assigned producer.

Once they made it on set, they saw a basket of props, costumes, and a dossier letting them know the parameters of the project.


No one knew what anyone else was doing...and they were all doing the same thing - Cinderella.

My 4 year old niece seemed to have a good time being in a group with


Diva and her buddies.


Each cast had an iPad on which to film their movie and trailer.
Then we all met back up and watched the trailers and films with parents while munching on popcorn from a popcorn bar and birthday cake.

It was fun, exhausting, but fun.  This week should be quite tame in comparison.

In other news, my Aunt Una Belle was down from Oklahoma this week to open the library's Summer Reading Program.  We had a great time watching her tell the story to the kiddos.  It's always fun to support family and the library at the same time.  :)

Because of all the birthday excitement and family in town, we didn't eat at home every night.  So I have a few carry overs from last week.

We are still doing the crock pot eMeals thing and so far we've liked most everything.

Sunday - Honey-Mustard Roasted Chicken w/Cherry Pecan Quinoa Salad (from last week)
Monday - Beef Tacos w/ Jicama Slaw
Tuesday - Chicken Creole & Rice w/Oven Roasted Okra (from last week)
Wednesday - Chiles Rellenos w/Oven-Baked Sweet Potato Wedges (from last week)
Thursday - Chicken Piccata, Herbed Orzo, & Browned Butter Sugar Snap Peas
Friday - Date Night
Saturday - Leftovers
