Jan '13 Brunch Menu

Table setting for brunch

We had our first bunch of the year last Saturday and it just so happened to fall on one of my Ladies-wot-Brunch's birthday.  I asked her what kind of cheesecake she would like and she said anything chocolate.  Happy to oblige.  :)

I carried that theme of chocolate (and mint) throughout the morning.

Coffee:
Mocha Mint

Menu:
Tomato Soup w/Parmesan Crisp
Egg Casserole
Asian Coleslaw
Apple Mold
Lemon Bread
Persimmon Bread w/Butter

Cheesecake:
Chocolate Mint

Favors:
Peppermint Sugar Scrub
Chinese New Year Coin Purses with Chocolate Mints inside

I wish I would have taken a picture of the cheesecake.

I had never made a cheesecake that was encased in meringue before; it was very pretty especially since I added crushed peppermints to the meringue which tinged it a delicate pink.
Most importantly though, it was very tasty.  The cheescecake itself was like chocolate mousse.

If you've made a New Year's Resolution to spend more time with friends, might I suggest hosting a brunch?

And if you do host regular brunches, what are your favorite brunch foods?

  1. I WANT TO HOST BRUNCHES! This is such a wonderful idea! I will see what's left over after our next paycheck and send the invites right away!

    Totally inspired! Thank you!

    1. I started having regular brunches for my girlfriends years and years ago while in England. It has been my absolute favorite way to entertain. It can be as dressy or as casual as you'd like it to be.
