Ladies-wot-Lunch
Some of my girlfriends, many of whom are working moms, came over for a casual lunch the other day. Because we needed to adhere to a lunch "hour" as opposed to the brunch "hours" like we are used to, the food needed to be something quick and filling instead of elaborate and dainty.
Our menu:
Lemony Iced Tea
Venison Chili or Sweet Potato Chili (we had a vegetarian present)
Cornbread Waffles
Bacon Wrapped Dates
Bacon Wrapped Dates
Congealed Salad
Nothing warms you up and sticks to your ribs quick like chili. However, when I planned the menu it was in the 50s on the actual day of lunch, it was in the 80s so not much warming up was needed.
One of my sweet friends is starting a cupcake business and brought over some for me to try. Cupcake tasting is a review gig that I feel I can throw myself into wholeheatedly. ;) They were truly scrumptious.
It was nice to have some girl time...especially when it ends with delicious cupcakes.
