Menu Plan Monday

Howdy!

This week we start swimming lessons and all of Diva's summer activities have to get locked in.  Summer means VBS-o-rama 'round these parts.

Also this week our little girl turns the big 1-0!  Where has the time gone?  Probably the same place that my flat tummy and wrinkleless face went but that's another story altogether...

Diva is so excited about turning ten because she will be able to go up to the Golden Corral buffet by herself.  I am not making this up.  We don't even go to Corral often at all.  But, it's a big deal to her so guess where we will be eating for her birthday supper.

You came here for a menu not a wrinkle rant or line lament (I do love me some alliteration) so let's get to it.

Monday - Chard Quiche w/Roasted Peppers Salad & Sauteed Kohlrabi
Tuesday - Macaroni & Cheese & Cabbage w/Sausage
Wednesday - Crock Pot Chicken, Roasted Potatoes & Kohlrabi
Thursday - Diva's b-day Look out Golden Corral!  Here we come!
Friday - Date Night
Saturday - Diva's party!!!!!

This is part of Organizing Junkie's Menu Plan Monday.

  1. First, I am a new visitor and I LOVE your "perfectly practical" tagline!

I love chard but my kids are afraid of it--so I'm trying the quiche. If they'll eat spinach in quiche, I think they'll eat the chard too. Small steps!

I adore kohlrabi and I'm glad to see another fan!

  2. Thanks Ms. Anne for stopping by and for the kind words.
Good luck with getting your kiddos to eat chard; I bet they won't even notice the difference. :)
We belong to a CSA so we eat whatever he is growing and that's kohlrabi at the moment. I have tons of it so I am tring to vary how I use it - slaw, roasted, sauteed, stir fried, etc. If all else fails, I will use my go to method of dealing with too much produce and pickle them. :)
Have a great day and I love your site!

  3. So "Pary Moppins" got me to click over from OrgJunkie's MPM. Such a catchy name :)

Love the Chard Quiche idea. I am making quiches to freeze and have lots of Chard from our CSA basket that needs used. Will be throwing that in thanks to your suggestion. I never would have thought of that!

  4. Well I'm glad I got your attention Ms. Leigh Ann (which is quite a catchy name as well.) :)
Oh goodness at the chard! I love our CSA because we are eating local and seasonal but when you have chard for the 6th week in a row you have to start getting pretty creative, right? :)
I use it interchangeably with spinach in cooked dishes and it works just fine. I will be making two quiches today too with the intention of freezing one. Gotta love the freezer! Thanks for stopping by!
