Chocolate Waffles

Yes, they are as good as they sound.

Adding chocolate to waffles certainly does make them more decadent.
And who doesn't need a little more decadence in their life?

These waffles are not overly sweet and you can freeze them.
If you are like me and feel like once the waffle iron is out it had better be put to good use, then making big batches of all things waffle and freezing them is important.

We drizzled crabapple syrup over the top of ours and served them with strawberry omelets.
You could add cinnamon whipped cream or strawberries or chocolate gravy or bananas and whipped peanut butter or nuts and caramel sauce to yours.
Whatever tickles your fancy.

Chocolate Waffles

2 sticks Butter, melted, or at least really, really soft
4 Eggs, beaten
1 1/2c. Sugar
1/2 c. Cocoa Powder (I always add a smidge more)
2 c. Flour
1 tsp. Vanilla or Almond Extract
1/2 c. Buttermilk
1 tsp. Baking Powder

Pre-heat waffle iron that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
Throw everything together in a mixing bowl.
Stir until all ingredients are incorporated.
Let stand for about 5 minutes.
Drop batter onto hot waffle iron.
Cook according to your machine's instructions (usually about a minute or so.)
