Madly in Love

Our roses are in full bloom right now.  They are gorgeous.

If you have been a reader for while, you know that Engineer was reluctant to get me a rose bush because he was told they were "hard work and like a high-maintenance woman - finicky, temperamental, and needed constant attention."

Finally he broke down and got me the first one; then he was hooked.
We have since collected many different types and colors of roses which he lovingly maintains.

I told him this weekend that out of all the beautiful flowers that God created, there is nothing more perfect to me than a rose.  It's fragrance.  It's texture.  It's immeasurable beauty.

Literally, I stop and smell the roses daily.

I feel like they are a constant reminder of love.
God loved me so much that He created roses for my enjoyment.
Engineer loves me so much that he gave me the rose bushes (against his better judgement) and takes care of them.

1-4-3 EM!  Thank you for my rose bushes that never cease to make me smile and think of you.

  4. Last fall I spent weeks researching an appropriate rosebush to commemorate my mother-in-law who passed away nearly two summers ago. It had to be an old-fashioned pink with lots of smell and the ability to thrive in our dry, dusty world. I finally found one, planted it beside her glider and watched it die of thirst. It makes me sad that I worked so hard to remove the wild climbing rose she loved so much even though it was eating my children alive. Sweet post!

    1. Oh I am so sorry. Maybe you could find another rose that would thrive in drier climates?
