After the first manic weeks of December, we have slowed down considerably. And it is nice.
Last week started with the final night of Walk to Bethlehem, our church's annual live Nativity. I truly love visiting with guests who come from all over the Ark-La-Tex to be a part of our very simple, sweet, and prayerful Nativity - the cookies and cocoa are a definite perk.
On Monday Engineer's office had a Christmas luncheon, Diva's Chapel Choir sang at our local hospital, and she also had her piano group lesson/Christmas party.
My parents had my brother's family and us over to celebrate my Momma's birthday on Tuesday. I realize that seems a little backwards but we are not a very conventional family in some instances.
I have a sweet friend who was insistent that she was having a homemade Christmas this year and wanted to learn how to can. She came over Wednesday and we canned her Christmas pressies (she has some very lucky folks on her Christmas list this year.) :) While we were processing jars, another one of our friends popped in for coffee.
If I could make up a job for myself, I would have a place whereby people would just show up and can stuff or knit stuff or just sit around and visit while drinking coffee. I'm not sure how I could turn that into a business model and make money from it so for now, I think I'll just keep what I've got - The Little Pink House which is open to all of those things all the time.
Diva had a half day on Friday and she and I have done lots of Hallmark movie viewing and knitting since then.
Engineer and I went out with a bunch of our friends to a place in Shreveport called Wine Country. Pheasant was one of their specials and I hadn't had pheasant since we left England so that was what I ordered and I was glad I did. Yum....
From our family to yours, we wish you the merriest of Christmases and the happiest of New Years!
