Menu Plan Monday

I trust you had a very merry Christmas.

Our Christmases, like the rest of the year, are filled with silliness.

We spent Christmas Eve with Engineer's Mom, step-dad, & brother's family eating barbecue, visiting, and opening exciting presents like prunes.
Seriously.
Engineer's step-dad loves them and gets very excited about his annual gift of prunes.

Christmas Day we spent with my parents and brother's family eating finger foods at Extrava"nan"za.  (My Momma's grandmother name is Nan and she always goes all out for Christmas thus it's name.)  We end up playing games or doing scavenger hunts to find our presents and it's an all day affair.  As part of Extravananza, we also visited my Maw-maw's best friend in the nursing home and my parents' neighbors.

On Boxing Day, our dear friends the Operinos came over for pizza and to watch "It's a Wonderful Life."  Oh, and to be subject to our general Christmas mayhem.

This Christmas was similar to most of our Christmases with one exception, we wanted nothing.  Generally we are content as a family but this Christmas we all had everything we needed.  It was a pretty cool conversation over our traditional smoked salmon breakfast to discuss that from this point on, we would choose as a family to be a blessing at Christmas to someone.  It's very exciting to think about what we could do for someone under the radar.

For the whole month of December our menu plan has been more of a loosely grouped bunch of suggestions so why start now with a firm outline?  ;)  In fact, to counterbalance all of the yummy holiday foods, we have been eating lots of salads or steamed veggies.

We hope you have a happy and prosperous New Year!

Sunday - Mexican take-out
Monday - Breakfast for Supper
Tuesday - Black Beans, Cornbread, & Salad
Wednesday - New Year's Day Par-Tay!
Thursday - Leftovers
Friday - Date night
Saturday - Leftovers

This is part of Menu Plan Monday.

    1. I'm going to get back into a solid plan after the holidays. It's hard to meal plan when you are at parties or at friend's and family's houses all the time. Good luck on your goal.

  3. I love the "be a blessing" present! One of my favorite gifts this year was mother in law adopting two kids from her angel tree in hubby/my names.
