Madly in Love

Three things to know going into this post:

  1. I pack Engineer a lunch every day.  Sometimes he hits the jackpot and sometimes, well, he doesn't.
  2. I bulk order fruit from Azure Standard so I will have 20lbs. of a certain fruit which means we eat a lot of that fruit for a period of time.
  3. I try to pack both Engineer and Diva healthy lunches that include at least one piece of fruit.

Engineer is fairly picky particular about his fruit.
Apples can't be the slightest bit mealy.
Bananas can't have bruises.
Pears have to be perfectly silky with no grainy bits and not too juicy, etc.
(Engineer is not much of a fan of pears anyway.)

And all of that's okay.  He likes what he likes and doesn't like what he doesn't.  No biggie.

So when he asked about what he could take as an extra snack to work, I suggested he grab one of the many pears we had from our bulk order.  These were lovely silky juicy pears that Diva and I had been eating like crazy.

This was his reaction to my suggestion:

"A pear?!  A pear!!  A pear is not an acceptable snack.  It won't do anything.  A pear is water - water with a stem!"

I giggled about that all day long.
I don't know why that tickled me so, but it did.
Even now as I type, I am giggling because at 6am, a lil'ol' fruit causing that kind of psuedo-rant was hilarious.

1-4-3 EM even if you have an unnatural vehemence for pears.  Hee hee hee...water with a stem...

    1. Oh yes ma'am Ms. Pristine. Now he will tear up some pear baked goods (especially pie) he just doesn't want them in his lunch. :)

  3. LOL...tell him to grab a handful of nuts to eat with that pear and then it's a perfect "pairing" ;) haha or cheese (unless he's allergic to both...then he might just be right about water with a stem) ;)

    1. That's too funny Ms. Taylor! That's the thing, I send him with nuts and various and sundry other healthy snacks throughout the week that he could supplement his pear with, but he prefers and all-in-one snack. Our family is anything but normal. :)

  5. What a positive attitude to your husband's pickiness. I would probably respond with "oh yeah next time pick out your own fruit!"....hmmmmm my grandmother used to say "you can't more flies with honey than you do with vinegar". Maybe I should start catching me some flies!
