Simple Truth Review

I like simple.  Simple falls in line with my philosophy on life...and food.

I don't need a bunch of clutter on a fancy package and I certainly don't need a bunch of rubbishy ingredients in my food.

Again, I like simple.

I recently had the opportunity to try out some products from the new Simple Truth range at Kroger - a fizzy drink, a protein bar, some sweet potato chips, vanilla almond milk, and frozen mango chunks.

All of those products are free from artificial preservatives and ingredients.  Sweet simplicity.

Here are my thoughts:

I like almond milk by itself or in a smoothie but I don't like it in coffee - it's not creamy enough.  It does however, have less calories than cow's milk which is a bonus.

The potato chips had an impressive crunch but needed a little salt for my taste which was easily remedied.

We were a house divided on the soft drink so half of us liked it and the other half didn't.

Engineer ate the protein bar and thought it was quite good.

As far as frozen fruit goes, you really can't go wrong unless you put sugar or preservatives on it which they didn't.  The ingredient list was rather short in that all it said was "Organic Mango".

In an effort to give the almond milk the opportunity to shine in baking, I made a super healthy oatmeal dish for my family's breakfasts this week.  It got a thumbs up.

Maybe you could give it a try.

Baked Pumpkin Oatmeal

1 c. Pumpkin Puree
1 Egg
2 Tbs. Coconut Oil
1 1/2 tsp. Vanilla
1 3/4c. Simple Truth Vanilla Almond Milk
1/2c. Maple Flavored Agave Syrup
2c. Rolled Oats
1/4c. Flax Seeds
1/2c. Pecans, Chopped
1 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. Salt
2-3 tsp. Pumpkin Pie Spice

Preheat oven to 375F and grease a quiche or flan pan.

In a large bowl, mix all of the dry ingredients.  Set aside.

In a mixing bowl, pour in all wet ingredients. Beat until well combined.

Pour wet ingredients over the dry ingredients and mix well.  Pour mixture into prepared quiche pan.

Bake for 25-30 minutes.  Can be served hot or room temperature.

I was given a sample from BzzAgent to facilitate my review.  All opinions and need for creamy coffee are my own.

  1. Hey There,

I started buying their store brand, organic peanut butter before it had the "Simple Truth" label. We love both the crunchy and smooth. I buy a lot of their products on a weekly basis. The only thing that bothers me about their labeling is that you have to look closely to see if it is "Natural" or "Organic."

    1. Howdy Ms. Amy! Agreed about the labels, they look nearly identical. Engineer pointed out that he didn't like the label's trademark statement "Free from 101 Artificial Preservatives & Ingredients" - there are infinite numbers of ingredients that they are missing. To him, that statement was silly. Thanks for stopping by!
