Madly in Love

This Christmas, Engineer and I tried to be sneaky about what we got each other.

We have kind of an understanding whereby we fill each other's stockings but don't really get gifts for each other.

This year, independently, we decided to get each other a little something.

We have a friend who visits Vegas (which is where Engineer's favorite coffee can be found) regularly.  See where this is going?  Yep.  I asked our friend to pick up a couple of bags while he was out there.

Well during our covert exchange, Engineer toddled out to where we were and asked if he could help get stuff out of the car and that's when he caught a glimpse of a bag and he put it together why I was getting something from our Vegas veteran friend.

Oops!

At least he was pleased with it.

Engineer told me he needed to make a quick trip over to Tyler (about an hour's drive away) to grab my present.

I said that we would be in Tyler a couple of days later and we could get it then or he could have his parents pick it up for him.  While I was thinking of Tyler, I told him we should stop by a local winery that we like and pick up a bottle of wine for Christmas.

His look was all it took.  I knew.  That was my present.

Again, oops!

Great minds think alike.

1-4-3 EM!

  2. Have you heard the story of the young husband and wife who had no money to buy each other Christmas gifts and they each sold a treasure to bless the other but ... oh let me see if I can find it ... It's called The Gift of the Magi by O'Henry. Your post reminded me of it. Beautiful. Sad. Funny. Sweet. =)

Nice to meet you! Tyler, Texas? I'm in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
