Perfectly Practical #114 - Kid Friendly Basic Cleaner Recipes

Continuing on the theme of teaching kids to clean from Nony's e-book Teaching Kids to Clean, I am collecting child friendly cleaning supply recipes so that they can start tackling the bathrooms and kitchen themselves without you fearing that they get a chemical burn or have to call poison control.

I have given a list of cleaners using vinegar in a previous post but have since then carried on experimenting with other cleaning recipes.

I have been keeping my jar of spent citrus peels in vinegar to use in my basic all-purpose cleaner instead of using essential oils.  This is a much more frugal way to scent my cleaner.

So as a run down of homemade cleaners here are the name brand and my equivalent:

All-Purpose Cleaner (in place of Formula 409) - 1 part citrus peel vinegar to 1 part water

All Purpose Scrub (in place of Comet) - dip spent citrus peel in salt and scrub away

Tile or Shower Door Scrub (in place of Soft Scrub) - make a paste with baking soda and dish liquid

Toilet Bowl Cleaner (in place of Ajax or Lysol) - scrub the bowl with vinegar and/or baking soda

Glass Cleaner (in place of Windex) - 1 part vinegar 2 parts water
