Madly In Love

We are a household of animal lovers.

The list of pets that we have had is fairly extensive:  Bearded Dragons, Collared Lizards, cats, dogs, bunnies, and a guinea pig and that is since Engineer and I have been together.  Individually we have had fish and aquatic snails, various Finches, hamsters, and a fiddler crab as well as many other cats and dogs.  We are not species specific family.

One of many of our quirky pastimes is to give voice to the critters we see in the yard or around the house - think Mystery Science Theatre 3000 meets Animal Planet.

During the warmer months, we have geckos clinging to every exterior wall and window lying in wait to catch those pesky moths and June Bugs that happen across their path.  Engineer and I love when the geckos come back out to play and it's a big deal to have the first gecko sighting of the year.

Maybe it's because we are sadistic and love seeing those horrible bugs get it, maybe it's because we love our natural pest control, or maybe it's because we are just plain weird, but we will sit and watch the geckos on the window screen.

We will cheer for the geckos and give voice to the plight of the young gecko trying to catch the giant moth.

I told you we were weird.

The other night, Engineer and I stood at our kitchen window for 20 minutes or so just watching and commentating on the lizards' hunger games.  In that moment my first thought was, "Oh my gosh, we are both insane" and then it was, "I am so thankful to have a husband that shares my interests and sense of humor no matter how odd they are."
