Madly In Love

My Mother's Day was all about pearls.

The celebrations actually started on our Friday night date night this year before Mother's Day.  Engineer surprised me by having my black pearls restrung (the clasp had broken.)  It was such a thoughtful and truly unexpected gift.

On Sunday, when I woke up, I was told by Engineer that he was instructed to tell me to look behind the picture of Diva in our bedroom.

Behind the picture there was a little note that said go to another place and behind that one, a note said to go to another place, and so on.  Finally, between some cookbooks on our bookshelf, there was a little scrapbook made just for me.

Diva had worked on it at my parents' house all sneaky-sneaky like.

This was the cover note:

In case you can't read it, it says:

"Dear Momma,
This scrapbook is a scrapbook based on love.
Page 1 (after the title page) is how you were loved by your friends and when you were young.
Page 2 How you are loved by your family.
Page 3 How you are loved by Daddy, me, and Puff-dog and last but definitely not least, how you are loved by me
Now flip over the how-you-are-loved-by-me page.  See that blankness?  That isn't blank.  That is overflowing with my love.  That paper is too small to contain my love.  That is just an example.
I love you!"
Is that not precious?  Diva is our precious pearl, our June baby whose birthstone is, yep, you guessed it, a pearl.

As if that wasn't enough, she handed me a bag and inside was one of those ceramic coated skillets that I had been dying to try out.

I was overwhelmed since usually Mother's Day consists of church, perhaps a card, and going out to eat.  All of this happened before we ever left for church!

After church, we went out to eat with my parents and to top off the day, we ended up with a new baby.

This is Greta.
Greta is a German derivation of Margaret, which means "pearl."  That was sheer happenstance but a very cool accident nonetheless.

How about that for coming full circle.  And ladies, I think you can stand with me in agreement that there are many worse things to be a common thread on which to string your weekend than pearls.
