Madly In Love

Background:
  • Some time ago, I had mentioned to Engineer that when people ask me what I want for an occasion, I was going to say pretty stationery. Mainly because I can never think of an answer of anything that I need but that I use nice stationery all the time.
  • I have a small garage sale money slush fund that I can do with as I please (but once it is gone, it is gone) and I recently had a hat reworked that was paid for out of said fund.
  • The gifts for the thirteenth anniversary are lace (traditional) or textiles/furs (modern.)

Last week for our anniversary Engineer picked me up and took me out to eat.

When I got into the car, there was a pretty bag on the floorboard waiting for me to unwrap it.  Inside there were three sets of beautiful note cards.  He then opened the glove box and pulled out a catalog.  He told me that once these cards were sent, we would pick out a monogram and order those from now on.  To someone else, this may have meant nothing, but to this Southern girl, monogrammed thank you notes are quite special and even more so because my Engineer truly thought about what I would like.

Later in the evening I was handed a check.  That check covered my newly refurbished hat so that I could replenish my fun money.

I understood the note cards because I had mentioned those but the hat?  That's when Engineer said with a far reaching grin, "The 13th anniversary gifts are lace, textiles, or fur.  Didn't your hat have lace on it?"

I am madly in love with my Engineer who puts real thought into our anniversary.
