Phase 4 Films Review - "Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life"

We know lots of people who skip straight to the film when they are watching a show at home.  Not us.  We like watching the previews for upcoming movie releases.  It was while watching the previews on the last movie we reviewed for Phase 4 Films, that we saw the trailer for "Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life."  Diva said, "I wish we could see that one.  It looks really good."  Wish granted my dahling.

She was right.  It did look pretty good from the trailer and with award winning stars like Mira Sorvino and Joe Pantoliano involved in the project, it looked as though it might be worth a watch.  Let me ease you of the suspense - it was worth a watch.

Based on the children's novel by Wendy Mass, Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life is part buddy movie part coming of age story and part fantastical journey.

A package shows up for Jeremy just before his 13th birthday.  In it was a mysterious box inscribed with the words "The Meaning of Life - for Jeremy Fink to open on his 13th birthday."  In order to find the keys to open the box, he and his best friend have to go all over Manhattan searching for clues.

Diva and I both really enjoyed the movie and the meaning of life. It was a really neat concept and a beautiful idea surrounding this box and its contents.  As a Mom who goes all out for her kiddo's birthdays, I appreciate the work and thought behind this box and Jeremy's experience with it.

What I'm not sure about is why this film has a PG rating.  The only thing I could think of was a short scene where the kids have a fake seance with a Ouija board.  Other than that, no nudity, no cussing, and a good family film.  I am not sure that younger kids would like it very much but for tweens, it is a good flick.

Phase 4 Films has generously given my readers an opportunity to win a copy of both the book and the movie for themselves.  All you have to do is participate in the rafflecopter.  The winner will be contacted via e-mail next Sunday, March 4th.  Good luck!

Congratulations Susan!  I have sent you an e-mail detailing what happens next.  I hope you enjoy your prize!
