What's Cooking?

Somehow or another I have managed to not take any pictures of some dishes I make frequently...probably because I make them frequently.

I made a double batch of Braised Radishes, a huge mess of Black Eyed Peas, sweet potato chili, and mustard greens w/turnips all to put in the freezer.

That's one of my great delights in life to be able to pull out wholesome ready-made food from the freezer.

While I was already in the kitchen, I roasted some kohl rabi, sweet potatoes, & rutabagas, steamed some rutabagas with carrots, and made a pasta salad.

Engineer, Diva, and I went to the CSA farm yesterday and after talking awhile to Farmer Bill, he finally asked if I was going to put a silver dime in my peas for good luck.  Traditionally we eat carrots for health, greens for wealth, and black eyed peas for good luck, but I had never heard of putting a silver dime in the peas before had you?

This is part of Miz Helen's Full Plate Thursday.

  1. Good Morning Pary,
Well I never heard of the silver dime either. I would be afraid that someone would eat it and it would most likely be me, lol. Let me know if you do it. Thank you so much for sharing with Full Plate Thursday. Happy New Year to you and your family and Abundant Blessings in 2012!
