Perfectly Practical #88 - Pre-Wash Tip

After Diva's performance last night in the children's program at our church, we went out to eat with Engineer's parents.

Golden Corral is usually where we go with them - mainly because my Father-in-law is a meat and veggies kinda guy and this way he can get lots of meat and lots of veggies.

You may or may not have seen their commercials lately for the chocolate fountain but they have one.  Think major breeding ground for germs, a germ-o-rama if you will.  Diva insisted on trying it out as evidenced by the big stripe of chocolate on her white t-shirt.  When she sat back down at the table and the pronounced chocolate glob was staring us all in the face, she immediately started rubbing it in.  Nooooooo....... Good thing it was a grubby t-shirt and not a nicer one.

This is when my Mother-in-law said what she does to remind her to pre-treat clothes and also where today's tip comes in.

Once she takes off the affected item, she ties it in a knot before putting it in the hamper.  This way, when she is doing laundry, she knows which items need to be treated with stain remover before going through the wash cycle.  Brilliant!

Thank you sweet MIL for the tip!

  1. I began following your blog, after I went searching for a blog that covers Brookshires for a fan on my blog.
I use Spray & Wash Stain Stick. I rub it on before putting the item in the laundry basket. It can stay on for as much as a week. It is a lovely thing. I have had 1 or 2 stains that had to be re-treated, but usually that stain stick works wonders!!

  2. Well I'm glad you found me Ms. Doodiebug. :) I have never tried the S&W stick before; I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. A great tip. I'd have to try really hard to remember it because I'm more likely to take off something stained while it's still wet and goopy. Trust me, moldy spots don't come off clothing too well. :-)

  4. I'm the same way Ms. Cricket. I always think I will remember to pre-treat...

  5. I hang a spray bottle of Shout (or whatever spray stain stuff you like) on my hamper, so every stain gets sprayed as the item is tossed.

  6. That's a good idea to hang a spray bottle of stain remover by the hamper, Ms. Sarah. Thanks for stopping by!
