Menu Ideas From the Brookshire's Ad

A meal plan is a great way to save money and not waste food.

I want to show you that as long as you are intentional in your shopping and cooking, you will save money on your grocery bill regardless if you use coupons or not. Generally, the cost of the whole meal will be less than or equal to the tip you would leave at a restaurant.

These menu ideas are based on a family of 4 and taken directly from the Brookshire's circulars.

This week you could feed your family very inexpensively:

Beans & Cornbread
Use:  Food Club 1lb. bag Pinto Beans (cook all but save some for later), Martha White Cornbread Mix, Food Club 18ct Eggs

Spicy Orange Chicken w/Rice adapted from this recipe
Use:  Rotisserie Chicken (pull meat from bone use 1c. meat in recipe keep other meat for later and make stock from carcass) Food Club 1lb. bag Rice, 4lb. bag Oranges, Green Giant Frozen Spinach

Southwest Chicken Taco Salad
Use:  1c. leftover Chicken, Fresh Express Salad, Green Giant Frozen Corn, leftover Beans, On the Border Chips, Food Club Tomatoes (mix some taco seasoning or chili powder in with the tomatoes)

BBQ Chicken Sandwiches, Tortilla Chips, & Mixed Vegetables
Use:  Kraft BBQ Sauce, the rest of the leftover chicken, the rest of the leftover beans, the rest of the leftover chili tomato mixture, Brookshire's Hamburger Buns, leftover chips, Green Giant Frozen Mixed Vegetables x 2

Chicken & Rice Soup
Use:  Chicken Stock made earlier, leftover rice, leftover vegetables

Hoppin' John & Orange Segments
Use:  Food Club Black Eyed Peas x 2, Food Club Rice, leftover oranges

Breakfast for Supper
Use:  Jimmy Dean Sausage, leftover eggs, Grands Biscuits, Grapes 1lb.

Scotch Eggs and Potatoes & Green Beans - Here's a recipe or here
Use:  Jimmy Dean Sausage, leftover eggs, Louisiana Fish Fry Breading, Green Giant Potatoes & Green Beans x 2

Dirty Rice & Greens
Use:  Food Club Rice, leftover sausage, Green Giant Turnip Greens x 2

That's 9 meals for around $39.04 if you aren't using coupons.  In other words, $4.34 per meal or $1.08 per person per meal!

If you are using coupons then you total would be in the region of $34.69 or $3.85 per meal or $.96 per person per meal!
