Menu Ideas From the Brookshire's Ad

A meal plan is a great way to save money and not waste food. 

I want to show you that as long as you are intentional in your shopping and cooking, you will save money on your grocery bill regardless if you use coupons or not. 

These menu ideas are based on a family of 4 and taken directly from the Brookshire's weekly circular.

This week you could feed your family:

Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, & Peas
Use:  Deli Fried Chicken, Idaho Potatoes, & Steamfresh Peas x 2

Onion Tart & Salad
Use:  1 lb. Texas Yellow Onions, Fresh Express Salad

Beef Fajitas and Mexican Rice
Use:  The Real Big Deal and Knorr Mexican Rice x 2

Pork Roast, Sauteed Apples, Steam Fried Potatoes
Use:  3lb. Hormel Pork Roast, 2lb. Apples, use Potatoes from before

B,L,T Sandwiches, Carrots & Fries
Use:  Brookshire's White Bread, Mini Peeled Carrots x 2, Ore-Ida Fries, Butterball Turkey Bacon, Leftover Salad, and Food Club Tomatoes (drained but keep juice & extra tomatoes)

Sausage & Potatoes w/Mixed Vegetables
Use:  John Morrell Smoked Sausage, Potatoes, Steamfresh Mixed Veggies x 2

Sausage, Toast, & Sliced Apples
Use:  Hormel Little Sizzzlers, Bread from earlier, and 2lb. Apples

Baked Potatoes w/ Pimento Cheese & Salad
Use:  Potatoes from earlier, Brookshire's Pimento Cheese, Fresh Express Salad

Steak Fingers, Tater Tots, Green Beans
Use:  Fast Fixin's Steak Fingers, Ore-Ida Tater Tots, Steamfresh Green Beans x 2

BBQ Pork Sandwiches, Seasoned Rice, &  Steamed Carrots
Use:  Pork from before, Manwich, Knorr Seasoned Rice, Brookshire's Buns, Mini Peeled Carrots x 2

Chicken Jambalaya
Use:  3lb. Pilgrim's Chicken Thighs (cook all but use half the meat and save 1/2 the meat for later), use up the rest of the Food Club Tomatoes and reserved juice, and Tony Chachere's Jambalaya Box Mix x 2

Biscuits & Gravy
Use:  Pillsbury Biscuits

Frozen Food Buffet & Salad (if you need something quick before heading out to the ballpark)
Use:  Michelina's frozen dinners x 4 & leftover salad

Hot Dogs, Peas & Corn
Use:  Jennie-O or Bar-S franks, Brookshire's Buns, Steamfresh Peas x 2, Steamfresh Corn x 2

Chicken Stir Fry
Use:  Chicken from before and Steamfresh Stir Fry Veggies & Rice x 2

Grilled Pimento Cheese Sandwiches & Tomato Soup
Use:  Leftover Pimento Cheese, Leftover Bread or Buns, and Food Club Tomatoes

Beans & Rice
Use: Tony Chachere's Red Beans & Rice x 2 and leftover sausage or hot dogs

This week's totals for 17 meals without using coupons is around $91.51.  That's an average of $5.38 per meal or $1.35 per person per meal.

Don't forget to save all of your bacon and sausage drippings to be used for gravy or for seasoning your cast iron.
